He argued that if public expectations were adjusted, many officials would be willing to serve pro bono. “If we can reduce the demands on some of our government officials by 90 percent, I assure you that many would be ready to work for free,” Dogara stated. He added, “However, the current situation is unsustainable; you cannot burden someone while also expecting them to stand firm.”

During the discussion, Dogara also mentioned that he and other former national assembly leaders recently met with President Bola Tinubu at Aso Rock, where they addressed the ongoing challenges of hardship and hunger in the country. He noted that the President is aware of these issues and is taking steps to alleviate the suffering experienced by citizens.
