Dogara made these comments during a keynote address titled “The Role of Youth Leadership in Harnessing Youth Potential for Development and Progress” at the Zaar Youth Development Association (ZAYODA) fundraising event in Abuja on July 28, 2024.

He underscored the collective responsibility required to tackle the crisis, noting that even those who have voiced their concerns are now exhausted and disheartened. Dogara described the current situation as unprecedented and overwhelming, stating that many have become desensitized and disillusioned.

Emphasizing the need for unity, Dogara argued that the North’s strength lies not in numbers but in solidarity. He lamented the ongoing violence, including attacks by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, banditry, and kidnappings, which he says have left the region severely affected.

Dogara highlighted that nearly 90% of the nation’s insecurity burden falls on the North and pointed to the high rates of out-of-school children, poverty, and malnutrition in the region. He urged the youth to step into leadership roles to foster reconciliation and progress for the North.
