The US dollar is being quoted at approximately ₦1,332.47 at Nigeria’s official foreign exchange market, while parallel-market dealers are buying the dollar at ₦1,365 and selling it at ₦1,375 on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

The figures highlight the difference between the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) and the parallel market, where exchange rates may vary depending on the dealer, location and prevailing demand for foreign currency.

The latest available official rate, reported on Tuesday, October 13, stood at approximately ₦1,332.47 per dollar. This figure represents the most recent available data and should not be treated as a confirmed live rate for Wednesday.

At the official market, exchange rates are influenced by foreign currency supply, demand from individuals and businesses, and monetary policy measures introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Meanwhile, Bureau De Change operators and other parallel-market dealers are quoting the dollar at ₦1,365 for buying and ₦1,375 for selling. The buying rate is the amount dealers pay customers selling dollars, while the selling rate is what customers pay to purchase the currency.

Based on the quoted figures, the dollar is more expensive in the parallel market than at the official window. However, rates can differ among dealers and may change throughout the day.

Using the parallel-market selling rate of ₦1,375 per dollar, the cost of selected dollar amounts is estimated as follows: $100 equals ₦137,500; $200 equals ₦275,000; $500 equals ₦687,500; and $1,000 equals ₦1,375,000.

At the official rate of ₦1,332.47, $100 is equivalent to approximately ₦133,247, while $1,000 amounts to about ₦1,332,470. Actual transactions may differ depending on access to foreign exchange, applicable requirements and the rate offered by the provider.

Several factors influence the naira’s performance against the dollar, including foreign exchange supply and demand, crude oil earnings, capital inflows and monetary policy decisions. Demand from importers, manufacturers, travellers and other businesses can also affect exchange-rate movements.

Nigerians planning to buy or sell dollars are advised to confirm current quotations before completing transactions. Customers should consult their banks or licensed Bureau De Change operators to establish the applicable rates and any additional charges.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the dollar is quoted at ₦1,375 for selling in the parallel market on Wednesday, while the latest available official rate stands at approximately ₦1,332.47 per dollar.
