Don’t Go To Kabba’ — Ojudu Reveals Stark Warning Osinbajo Got Before 2019 Crash

In 2019, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was involved in a helicopter crash in Kabba, Kogi State, while on a political campaign tour.

Investigations later blamed the helicopter captain for allegedly using inappropriate landing techniques and failing to follow company procedures.

In a Facebook post titled “My Helicopter Crash Experience”, former presidential aide Babafemi Ojudu revealed that then-Governor Yahaya Bello had warned Osinbajo against visiting Kabba, claiming there were people there with “spiritual powers” who might harm him.

Ojudu said the disclosure came to mind after hearing of the recent helicopter crash in Ghana’s Ashanti region that killed two ministers and six others. He added that, because of the alleged spiritual threat, Governor Bello refused to visit the crash site, forcing the team to travel to his residence in Okene instead.

“Despite being in government, many of us paid for our own hotels, logistics, and food,” Ojudu wrote. “That day, we were to land in Kabba — a place the state governor had warned us against entering. We travelled in two helicopters: one from the Nigeria Police, carrying the advance team, and a Caverton chopper carrying the Vice President, myself, Minister of State for Labour Stephen Ochei, Media Adviser Laolu Akande, and three security operatives.

“Normally, one helicopter lands first to allow the dust to settle before the second comes down. That afternoon, something went wrong — our chopper began its descent before the dust cleared. A thick brown cloud engulfed us, leaving us blind. Suddenly, there was a deafening thud.

“The impact shook us violently. Even with our seatbelts fastened, we were thrown around like rag dolls. Phones, iPads, and caps flew in all directions. Panic gripped everyone. ‘Jesus! Jesus!’ people screamed. I kept shouting, ‘Calm down! Calm down!’ trying to steady the situation.”
