“Don’t Take It Seriously!” Ronke Oshodi-Oke Reveals Why She Endorses Politicians
Nollywood actress Ronke Oshodi-Oke has appealed to Nigerians to refrain from criticising or insulting her should she publicly endorse or campaign for a political candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The actress made the appeal during a recent interview while addressing the possibility of supporting politicians as the country gradually moves toward the next election cycle.
According to the actress, any political endorsement she may undertake should not automatically be interpreted as an indication of her personal political convictions, explaining that such engagements could form part of her efforts to earn a living.
Ronke Oshodi-Oke urged her fans and followers to understand her position and avoid attacking her if they see her campaigning for a politician. She stressed that she may participate in political activities as part of what she described as her “hustle” and efforts to survive.
Her comments have since sparked reactions on social media, with some Nigerians noting that entertainers often explore different opportunities to generate income, while others argued that celebrity political endorsements naturally attract public scrutiny because of the influence entertainers wield over their followers.
The actress has maintained a strong presence in Nigeria’s entertainment industry over the years and frequently engages with her audience through social media.
Her latest remarks have consequently generated renewed discussion about the role of celebrities in politics, particularly as political parties and candidates begin preparations for the 2027 elections.
Ronke Oshodi-Oke has, however, made it clear that Nigerians should not insult or “drag” her if she chooses to endorse a political figure, asking them instead to see such involvement as part of her means of making a living.
