Nigerian lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, created a stir over the weekend during the extravagant 50th birthday celebration of Delta oil and gas billionaire, Matthew Tonlagha.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

A viral video captures the moment Adeyanju, a vocal critic of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, firmly refused to accept a cap emblazoned with the president’s insignia.

Fashion entrepreneur Seyi Vodi, who was wearing one of the Tinubu-branded caps, offered it to Adeyanju as they exchanged pleasantries, but the activist immediately declined.

Meanwhile, Adeyanju has criticized certain state governors for granting pardons to criminals. In a statement, the Abuja-based lawyer argued that governors do not have the constitutional authority to offer pardons to terrorists as part of so-called non-kinetic strategies aimed at tackling Nigeria’s growing security challenges.

His comments come amid escalating insecurity across several regions, particularly the North-West, North-East, and North-Central zones, where banditry, mass kidnappings, and terrorist attacks continue despite ongoing military operations.

In response, some state governments have adopted approaches such as dialogue, negotiation, and amnesty programs, providing pardons, financial incentives, and rehabilitation packages to armed groups in exchange for laying down their weapons.

States including Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, and Niger have reportedly explored or implemented these measures, justifying them as pragmatic responses to overstretched security forces and the humanitarian toll of prolonged violence.
