Drama Erupts As Dayo Amusa Questions Critics Over Insecurity Demands

In a post shared on her X (formerly Twitter) page, she expressed concern over how actors and other entertainers are often criticised whenever they voice opinions or promote their work on social media.

She noted that many industry practitioners face backlash and are sometimes labelled insensitive for posting about their projects during periods of national hardship.

Dayo Amusa explained that filmmaking requires heavy financial investment, including loans obtained at high interest rates, stressing that it is unfair to expect creatives to abandon their work to constantly focus on issues like insecurity or government failures online.

She added that she would not allow online critics to dictate how she uses her platforms, stating that she has long decided not to build her career around pleasing social media audiences.

According to her, negative comments from trolls will not affect her decisions or personal brand.

She wrote: “I woke up today with a very heavy heart… The bullying many of you subject our colleagues to in the creative industry is crazy. They can’t freely share their opinions or post their jobs without being called insensitive.

“We go to the bank to take loans at high interest rates to produce movies, yet you expect us to suspend our work and post kidnapping videos and curses on the government daily while you sit in your offices tweeting and enjoying your environment.

“The day I decided to start using this app actively, I made up my mind that many of you trolls don’t matter. I won’t pander to mobs as I didn’t build my brand on it.

“I have other streams of income. Don’t come under my post to act silly, I’ll send you home.

“That said, may God bring succor to the family of the kids and teachers kidnapped in Oyo State. May they return home safely.
