Drama In PDP! Party Leadership Snubs Anyanwu, NEC Meeting Set To Decide Fate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed that its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting will take place today, May 27, 2025.

This announcement was made early Tuesday morning via the party’s official (formerly Twitter) handle.

According to the statement, the meeting is scheduled for 12 noon at the Legacy House, the party’s presidential campaign office located in Maitama, Abuja. It will focus on pressing internal matters and strategic planning for upcoming political activities.

The 99th NEC meeting of the PDP is taking place today, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the PDP Presidential Campaign Headquarters, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja.

As one of the party’s highest decision-making bodies, the NEC comprises the PDP National Chairman, members of the National Working Committee (NWC), governors elected under the party, former presidents and vice presidents, the chairman and secretary of the Board of Trustees (BoT), top lawmakers, state party chairmen, ex-governors, and party founding members, among others.

The meeting is expected to deliberate on vital issues affecting the party and formulate strategies for future political engagements,” the statement read.

This development comes after PDP’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, had earlier announced the postponement of the NEC meeting in a statement released on Sunday, May 25, 2025.

Anyanwu explained that the delay was intended to give the Reconciliation Committee led by former Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki ample time to address internal disputes, ensuring a more harmonious NEC gathering.

He also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and had promised that a new date would be communicated in due course.
