Drama Unfolds: FCTA Locks PDP Secretariat, Sparks Urgent Closed-Door Meeting

A high-stakes caucus meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently in progress at the Bauchi State Government Lodge in Abuja.

Originally slated for 7 p.m., the meeting was rescheduled following the sealing of the party’s National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) over alleged unpaid ground rent and tenancy dues.

The FCTA’s action on Monday effectively barred the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BOT) from convening their scheduled meeting, causing widespread concern within party ranks.

FCTA officials reportedly arrived at the secretariat and instructed security personnel to refer inquiries to appropriate authorities, heightening tensions just hours before key party meetings.

Now held behind closed doors, the ongoing caucus meeting includes prominent party figures—serving governors, members of the National Assembly, BOT members, former presidents, and vice presidents.

According to PDP insiders who spoke with Channels TV, the caucus is deliberating on the upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting slated for Tuesday, May 27. The sealing of the party secretariat is also expected to be a central issue in these discussions.
