Mr. Jude Okpor, the State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, expressed his concerns when he received the state chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo during a courtesy visit to his office.

Mr. Okpor stated that there appears to be a deliberate attempt to tarnish the reputation of the state, emphasizing the need for Ohaneze Ndigbo’s leadership to address this issue….CONTINUE RERADING

He stressed that the organization should not only protect the image of Ebonyi people but also uphold the reputation of Igbo people in general.

Furthermore, he urged Ohaneze Ndigbo to continue being a unifying force for progress and unity in the region. He emphasized that no Igbo individual can be seen as a saint by tarnishing the image of fellow Igbo people.

The Information Commissioner encouraged Ohaneze Ndigbo to promote unity and solidarity among the people of the South-East zone and extended his support to collaborate with the organization.

Mr. Okpor pointed out that Ebonyi natives worldwide are known for their industry, hard work, and law-abiding nature.

He condemned criminal activities involving individuals from Ebonyi, emphasizing that it is unfair to generalize the entire Ebonyi population based on the actions of a few criminals.

He also criticized the practice of using social media to pass judgment on suspects instead of following due legal processes in a court of competent jurisdiction.

In response, the State President of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Dr. Peter Mbam, assured the government of the group’s readiness to collaborate with the state administration to contribute to its development.

He also requested the assistance of the Information Commissioner in publicizing the union’s activities within the state.
