On May 6, the assembly suspended Okogbe (PDP-Akoko-Edo II), Isibor (APC-Esan North-East I), and Bright Iyamu (Orhionmwon South) over allegations of conspiring to impeach the House Speaker and other key officials. Bright Iyamu was reinstated in June after showing remorse, as noted by Speaker Blessing Agbebaku.
During a plenary session in Benin on Wednesday, October 2, Agbebaku announced that a consensus had been reached to lift the suspension on the remaining two lawmakers. He also congratulated the state governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, on his recent electoral victory.
Agbebaku emphasized that the governor-elect is a representative of all Edo citizens, not just the All Progressives Congress (APC), and expressed his hope that sycophants would not lead him astray. He welcomed the returning members from their extended recess and expressed appreciation for their dedication to passing important bills and resolutions.
Additionally, the assembly approved a calendar of 57 sitting days for the second quarter of its second session during the plenary.
