Edo Government Accuses Tinubu, APC Of Causing Hardship For Nigerians

Nehikhare pointed out that the Edo State Government has introduced several measures to ease citizens’ hardships. However, he emphasized that residents continue to suffer due to the “gross mismanagement of the economy” by the APC government over the past nine years.

### Criticism of Federal Policies

Nehikhare criticized the federal government’s abrupt removal of fuel subsidies on May 29, 2023, claiming it has disrupted the economy and increased the risk of starvation among citizens. He also condemned the policy to unify the exchange rate, arguing it has devalued the currency, increased inflation, and hindered business growth through higher taxes and strict regulations.

### Rising Insecurity

Nehikhare also addressed escalating security issues, citing a resurgence in terrorist activities, including suicide bombings. He attributed these problems to the APC’s failure to manage national security effectively.

### Political Landscape in Edo State

Nehikhare accused the APC in Edo State of being out of touch with the people’s hardships. He criticized the party for spreading misinformation and propaganda, including baseless fraud allegations against the state government. He also questioned the literacy and leadership capabilities of the APC’s gubernatorial candidate, Monday Okpebholo.

“The governorship election in Edo State is around the corner, and just as they fooled the entire nation into bondage, they hope to replicate the same in Edo State, parading a hardly literate candidate who struggles to express himself and lacks the vision for the people,” Nehikhare said.

He urged Edo residents to reject the APC and support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming governorship election on September 21, 2024. Nehikhare expressed confidence in the PDP’s continued leadership, stating, “Our people are determined to break from this bondage by sustaining the leadership of the PDP at the State level. They know that the PDP is the best choice for the continued progress and prosperity of the State.”

Nehikhare concluded, “Come September 21, it is PDP or nothing, and there is nothing the APC can do about it,” reflecting the government’s resolve to maintain its leadership in Edo State.
