Edo Government Orders Arrest, Prosecution Of Students Over Alleged Bullying Incident Video

The Edo State Government has directed the arrest and prosecution of students of Igbinedion Education Centre who were seen in a viral video allegedly bullying and assaulting a fellow student.
The State Commissioner for Information, Kassim Afegbua, confirmed the development during an interview on Channels Television on Monday, March 16. He explained that the government acted promptly after reviewing the footage, which showed students reportedly attacking one of their peers.
According to him, the incident sparked widespread concern among parents and members of the public over discipline and student behaviour in schools. He described the actions captured in the video as disturbing and unacceptable, stressing that there could be no justification for such conduct.
Afegbua stated that the government immediately expelled the students involved and also instructed law enforcement authorities to ensure they are arrested and prosecuted. He added that he contacted the Commissioner of Police to confirm progress on the matter. The police, he said, are expected to work with the students’ parents, after which investigations will be concluded and the suspects charged in court.
The viral clip reportedly showed two male students assaulting another student who was on the ground, while a third student recorded the incident and pleaded for them to stop.
