The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has started distributing identification tags to journalists accredited for the September 21 governorship election in Edo State. The distribution took place at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat in the state.

National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, reported that 114 media organizations successfully submitted the details of 721 journalists who will cover the election. The full list, detailing the number of personnel and their assignments, has been made available on the commission’s website and social media channels for public access.

Olumekun assured all accredited media groups of unrestricted lawful access to voting and collation centers. He also urged media organizations and observers to adhere to professional ethics and INEC’s regulations and guidelines throughout the election period.
