The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has expressed commendation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his courage in removing petrol subsidy and floating the naira. The party believes that these economic policies, implemented by the Tinubu-led government, will contribute over N2 trillion to Nigeria’s economy.

Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, the state party’s chairman, made this statement in Benin City. He acknowledged that although the PDP is currently in court over the election outcome, they must accept the reality and work with what they cannot change.

Aziegbemi praised the removal of subsidy and the unification of the exchange rate as crucial economic measures undertaken by the Tinubu-led federal government. He believes that these policies were necessary to prevent the economy from grinding to a halt.

The chairman emphasized that his commendation comes from his understanding of the positive impact of Tinubu’s economic policies. As an economist, he recognizes the significance of sound economic measures and sees them as a paradigm shift in PDP’s approach.

He concluded by stating that when good economic policies are implemented, regardless of party affiliation, they deserve recognition and support.
