Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has pledged to work closely with security agencies to eradicate criminal gangs in the state. His commitment came during a visit from Major General Obinna Onubogu, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2 Division, Nigerian Army, to the Government House in Benin City.

Obaseki emphasized the state government’s determination to prevent incidents like the recent shooting at soldiers by militants and community youths in the Okomu area. He underscored ongoing collaboration with security agencies to apprehend those responsible for such actions.

The governor expressed gratitude for the military’s support in enhancing security across Edo State. He highlighted the inclusion of the Brigade Commander in the State Security Council and acknowledged the military’s crucial role in supporting other security outfits.

Obaseki reiterated the state government’s stance against the proliferation of arms among cultists and criminal groups, vowing to pursue these groups with the full backing of the military. He assured continued cooperation with all security agencies, both state and federal, to safeguard the lives and property of Edo citizens.
