Edwin Clark To PDP, APC: Wike’s Actions Are Public Embarrassment, Address Immediately

The leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Edwin Clark, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of exerting control over both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State. According to Clark, Wike’s actions are causing disruptions for Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.

Clark articulated his concerns in a letter addressed to the chairmen of both the APC and PDP. In the letter, he urged the party leaders to intervene and restrain Wike.

Clark’s letter reads in part: “As a patriotic elder statesman, I feel compelled to address this letter to you, urging you to call to order FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike. His behavior in Rivers State politics is akin to dancing naked in the marketplace, with one foot in each of the two parties.

“I am aware that both of you are fully informed and involved in the political turmoil in Rivers State, primarily instigated by Wike, who is manipulating both parties in the state, especially the PDP.

“I strongly recommend that both of you step back from the chaotic politics of Rivers State to prevent the escalation of a dangerous crisis in one of the most economically crucial states in the country.

“Do not overlook the fact that International Oil Companies (IOCs) and the deep seaport of Onne are significant establishments in Rivers State.

“How can the Federal Government and the two principal political parties permit an individual to cause such confusion and harassment of the democratically elected Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, under the pretext that he alone, and not the people of Rivers State, was responsible for Fubara’s election, as suggested in his provocative and incendiary statements?”

Clark’s letter underscores the potential risks and instability arising from Wike’s actions, calling for immediate intervention by the party leaders to restore order and stability in Rivers State.
