Sources within the EFCC have indicated that Ishaku remains in their custody as of Friday night. Reports suggest that he faces at least 15 charges and is expected to be arraigned in court soon, with sufficient evidence already collected against him.
“Yes, he’s in our custody right now. We have been investigating him covertly since he left office. There are numerous financial irregularities associated with his administration,” a source stated.
Another source revealed that Ishaku was apprehended for failing to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the financial misconduct during his tenure.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the arrest but declined to provide further details.
Naija News notes that Ishaku’s arrest comes amid an ongoing investigation involving another former governor, Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, who is accused of embezzling ₦80.2 billion.
