In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the arrests, emphasizing that they are part of Chairman Ola Olukoyede’s ongoing reforms aimed at eradicating corruption within the commission.
According to Oyewale, the officers were apprehended last week based on directives from the EFCC chairman.
The officers are under investigation for their inability to account for certain operational items. Progress has been made, and any officers found culpable will face internal disciplinary actions,” he said.
This development follows the EFCC’s announcement on Monday regarding the dismissal of 27 officers implicated in fraudulent activities and misconduct in 2024.
Oyewale noted that the dismissals were based on recommendations from the commission’s staff disciplinary committee and were approved by the chairman.
Chairman Olukoyede reaffirmed the EFCC’s zero-tolerance policy for corruption, stressing that no staff member, regardless of rank, would be exempt from disciplinary measures.
