EFCC Escalates Investigation Against Yahaya Bello: Abuja Residence Surrounded Amid Fraud Allegations
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken action by sealing off the residence of former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, situated in Wuse, Abuja. This move by the EFCC follows a reported meeting between the ex-governor and President Bola Tinubu at the State House, as per SaharaReporters.
Reports indicate a complete restriction of movement in and around Bello’s residence on Benghazi Street, Wuse Zone 4, in the federal capital. A trustworthy source revealed a photograph showing EFCC operatives blocking access to the property.
Although the specific reason behind the EFCC’s operation remains undisclosed, it is speculated to be connected to the ongoing ₦84 billion fraud case involving Bello. The EFCC has leveled accusations of financial wrongdoing amounting to ₦84 billion against the former governor.
The charges against Bello allege the diversion of ₦80 billion of state funds in September 2015, a mere four months before assuming office. As the situation unfolds, the motives behind the EFCC’s actions and the developments in the case against Bello continue to attract attention.
