EFCC Launches Crackdown On Alleged Fake Lawyers In Collaboration With Yahaya Bello’s Administration....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The 2023 People Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency, Usman Okai, emphasized the urgent need for the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) to eliminate counterfeit lawyers who compromise the integrity of Nigeria’s judicial system through deceitful activities.

Okai highlighted the pervasive presence of fake lawyers, particularly noting their tendency to organize unsubstantiated press conferences in defense of embattled former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

In recent events in Abuja, a group of lawyers led by Emmanuel Agada accused the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, of disregarding valid court orders and infringing upon the constitutional rights of Nigerians.

Agada articulated their stance, expressing the desire for a judiciary that upholds justice transparently. They formed a civil society of lawyers to actively pursue initiatives aimed at fostering an independent judiciary that dispenses justice impartially.

Reacting to these developments, Okai underscored the imperative for the NBA to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the duplicitous conduct of the implicated lawyers. He emphasized that their actions tarnish the reputation of the legal profession.

Okai also urged the National Judicial Council (NJC) to play its part in purging the legal system of individuals who treat it merely as a marketplace, devoid of ethical integrity.

He lamented the diminishing ethical standards within the legal fraternity, where the title of “lawyer” has been reduced to a mere facade, lacking substantial practice or ethical grounding.

Furthermore, Okai criticized the opportunistic nature of these practitioners, labeling them as mercenaries who prioritize financial gain over justice and morality.

In contrast, he commended individuals like Olukoyede for their courage in challenging the prevailing norms. Okai argued that the alleged court order obtained through fraudulent means represents a mockery of justice, underscoring the importance of upholding integrity within the legal profession.
