EFCC Petitioned Over Alleged $2.1m Land Deal Involving Wike’s Son

Abuja-based businessman Safwan Garba and his company, GY Global Oil & Gas Nigeria Limited, have petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing Jordan Nyesom-Wike, son of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of allegedly collecting $2.1 million to facilitate the allocation of 60 hectares of land in Abuja.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the allegations were contained in a petition dated December 11, 2025, submitted through the petitioners’ lawyer, Hamza Dantani. The petitioners alleged that Jordan claimed to have his father’s knowledge and approval to facilitate the proposed land allocations.

According to the petition, Garba first met Jordan in London, where they developed a friendship. The businessman allegedly met him again after returning to Nigeria, when Jordan reportedly offered to facilitate the acquisition of land in the Federal Capital Territory.

The petitioners claimed that Jordan promised to secure 30 hectares each in Katampe and Guzape, assuring them that he had experience helping people obtain land allocations in the territory.

The petition stated that Jordan allegedly contacted his father by telephone in Garba’s presence to discuss the proposed transaction, an action the petitioners said helped convince the businessman that the arrangement had the necessary approval.

They further alleged that Jordan demanded and received $2 million, which he reportedly said would be handed over to his father to facilitate the allocations, alongside an additional $100,000 as his personal fee.

According to the petition, the money was paid in cash on October 17, 2025, in the presence of two witnesses, Adamu Sani and Aliyu Sarki. Jordan was also said to have been accompanied by an associate identified as Onor Sandy.

The petitioners alleged that Jordan promised to secure the land allocations within one month but failed to fulfil the agreement after receiving the money. They further claimed that he subsequently became unreachable despite repeated attempts to contact him.

“The UK phone number he provided is no longer reachable, and all attempts by our client, including through individuals known to the Honourable Minister, to establish contact with him have failed,” the petition stated.

Garba and his company accused Jordan of fraud, obtaining money by false pretences, criminal misappropriation and conversion. They urged the EFCC to investigate the allegations, question him and initiate prosecution if evidence establishes his culpability.
