In a statement issued on Thursday, the Commission explained that its actions on Wednesday were part of a sting operation targeting suspected internet fraud activities in two buildings at Agbede Community, Ilorin, Kwara State.

According to the EFCC, the operation led to the arrest of 30 suspected internet fraudsters, among whom six were identified as students of Kwara State Polytechnic.

The agency clarified that the exercise had no connection to the institution, stressing that its operatives did not enter the school premises and that academic activities were not disrupted in any way.

It further described viral videos linking the student protest to its operation as misleading and a distortion of the facts.

The statement noted that during the operation, operatives recovered eight vehicles believed to be proceeds of crime, alongside several mobile phones and laptops.

The EFCC emphasized that the students arrested were found to be actively involved in internet fraud following profiling.

Reiterating its stance, the Commission stated that its operations are conducted with professionalism and integrity, and encouraged the public to report any misconduct through official channels.

It added that it will continue to carry out its mandate in the best interest of the country.

The clarification comes after videos circulated online on Wednesday, suggesting a confrontation between students of the Kwara State Polytechnic and EFCC operatives.
