Last week, Femi Gbajabiamila, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, stirred controversy by hinting at the regulation of social media to quell criticism directed at the government by Nigerians.

Recall that an international body proposed a three-year jail term for individuals who criticize the government of President Tinubu.

In a viral video, Isaac Fayose boldly stated: “Egbon femi Gbajabiamila we nor fear you we nor fear your three years imprisonment, this country belongs to all of us the house you are staying is our taxpayers house, you can’t scare us with three years in prison in the face of inflation, no food anywhere people are hungry you are threatening us, insecurity everywhere you are threatening us with jail if we talk.”

He continued: “Na social media you suppose regulate or the system? oga we go change am for your government stop it now if you jail us nkor? we go go abroad dey shout from there you nor fit jail us three years, do the needful people are hungry things are hard.”
