Eid Festivities: Nigerian Government Declares National Holidays For Monday, Tuesday

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Magdalene Ajani.

Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims across the country on successfully completing the holy month of Ramadan and urged them to uphold values such as self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace. He emphasized the importance of love, forgiveness, and unity in fostering a harmonious society.

He also encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the nation’s peace, stability, and prosperity, expressing optimism that Eid-el-Fitr would promote unity and cooperation across religious and ethnic divides.

Additionally, Tunji-Ojo urged citizens to celebrate responsibly while extending kindness and charity to the less privileged in line with the true spirit of Ramadan and Eid.

“On behalf of the Federal Government, he wished all Muslim faithful a joyous Eid Mubarak and prayed that the blessings of the season bring happiness, success, and fulfillment to everyone,” the statement concluded.
