is now a viable initiative to revamp and upgrade the poultry facilities at the Livestock Development Centre (LDC) Erifun.
The goal is to transform it into a livestock agribusiness center accommodating various livestock value chains. Additionally, the project aims to upgrade the central abattoir and cattle market along Iworoko road to ensure public health and safety.
Governor Oyebanji outlined plans to renovate and equip the state’s veterinary hospitals with modern disease diagnostic kits and establish a modern cattle market, foreseeing significant revenue generation and job creation opportunities.
He emphasized the project’s potential to enhance existing livestock value chains in the state and shared strategies to position Ekiti State as an attractive investment destination for agro-investors.
While urging the Committee to provide policy guidelines and strategic direction for the project, the Governor encouraged stakeholders along the livestock value chain to seize the opportunity presented by the project.
He emphasized Ekiti State’s commitment to leveraging L-PRES for building robust institutions around agro-economic development, conflict resolution, capacity building, extension services, and livestock infrastructure construction/renovation.
In his welcome address, Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Boluwade Ebenezer, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his dedication to sustainable commercial animal agriculture.
He highlighted Ekiti State’s selection for participation in the L-PRES project, underscoring the significance of the initiative.
