In a heartbreaking revelation on the “Dr. Phil” show, Terri, an elderly woman, shared her story of being scammed by her online boyfriend, whom she knew as “Ricardo.”

Terri explained that she met Ricardo on Facebook Messenger two years ago and quickly developed a relationship with him. Within a month, Ricardo convinced her to invest $10,000 in Bitcoin, promising a substantial return of $1 million within six months. Trusting him, Terri sent him the money, only to realize later that it was a complete scam.

Despite claiming to be a U.S. citizen from Los Angeles, Ricardo always made excuses to avoid meeting Terri in person, citing his relocation to Canada for work. Terri, relying solely on photos and phone calls as proof of Ricardo’s existence, continued to send him money.

However, Terri’s sister, Tammy, strongly suspected that it was a scam and tried to convince Terri, but she refused to believe it. Dr. Phil joined Tammy in her doubts and decided to uncover the truth about Ricardo.

It was revealed that the man in the photos sent to Terri was actually named “James.” James confirmed that his pictures had been used in romance scams for over a decade. He expressed his hope that the video sent to the show would clarify that he was the person in the photos but not the one Terri had been communicating with and sending money to.

Upon learning the truth, Terri felt heartbroken and vowed to block the scammer and change her phone number, determined to move forward from this devastating experience.
