The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed this during the results collation on Monday afternoon.
Upon the resumption of collation at 12:42 on Monday, the state Returning Officer, Prof Faruq Kuta, announced that the APC candidate secured 18,431 votes in Brass LG, while Governor Douye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gathered 12,602 votes.
At this point, the governor has claimed victory in five out of the eight local government areas in the state, with Sylva winning in two LGAs.
The results from Kolokuma/Opokuma, Ogbia, Yenagoa, Sagbama, Nembe, Ekeremor, and Brass LGAs have been declared, leaving only the Southern Ijaw LGA pending.
