Elon Musk Considers Banning Apple Devices From His Companies

Billionaire Elon Musk has issued a warning, stating that Apple devices may be prohibited from his companies’ premises if the iPhone creator proceeds with its planned integration of OpenAI.

During Apple’s annual Worldwide Developer’s Conference on Monday, June 10, it was revealed that Apple intends to collaborate with OpenAI to incorporate ChatGPT into its voice assistant, Siri.

In the upcoming iOS 18, users will have the ability to ask Siri questions, and if the assistant deems ChatGPT helpful, it will request permission to share the query and provide the answer directly, eliminating the need to open the ChatGPT iOS app. This streamlined process also applies to sharing photos, PDFs, or other documents with ChatGPT.

Responding to this announcement, Musk denounced it as a ‘security violation’ and threatened to ban Apple devices from his companies’ premises.

“If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my companies. That is an unacceptable security violation,” remarked Musk, who also owns the social media platform X and serves as the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX.

He further asserted, “And visitors will have to check their Apple devices at the door, where they will be stored in a Faraday cage.”

Musk criticized Apple’s decision, questioning their ability to safeguard users’ security and privacy.​⬤
