Emergency Response: 10 Dead Following Building Collapse
Ten people have been confirmed dead following a building collapse in the Jegede Olorunsogo area of Ona Ara Local Government, Ibadan, Oyo State. Rev. Akinyemi Akinyinka, General Manager of Oyo State Fire Services, reported the incident to Vanguard.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Akinyinka revealed that emergency services received distress calls around 2 a.m. and were able to rescue seven individuals alive from the debris. “We received a distress call at about 2 a.m. this morning regarding the collapse, and we have recovered 10 bodies while seven people were rescued,” he stated. The rescue operation is ongoing.

In a related incident, a significant fire erupted early Wednesday along the Ibafo axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, destroying vehicles and damaging properties. The blaze was caused by an overturned petrol tanker in front of a commercial bank, reportedly after the driver fell asleep at the wheel.

Witnesses reported that the resulting explosion led to extensive damage, with petrol spilling through drainage systems and reaching a nearby community. The fire shattered windows, damaged roofs, and cracked walls of surrounding buildings. Several individuals sustained injuries, prompting emergency services to respond swiftly to the scene. An eyewitness, Wasiu, attributed the incident to the driver’s reckless behavior.
