Eniola Ajao Breaks Silence After Critic Says She Has No Acting Talent

Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao has responded to criticism from movie critic Tolu Fagbure, who questioned her acting ability and claimed she lacked the talent to develop her skills as an actress.

Fagbure made the comments during an interview on Agbaletu, where he argued that Ajao had no business taking her movies to the cinema. He also compared her to fellow actor Odunlade Adekola, saying they belonged to the same category in his assessment.

The critic was particularly harsh in his evaluation of Ajao’s performance, claiming that her appearance was her major advantage while describing her delivery as lacking the qualities he expected from a talented actor.

Fagbure said he did not believe Ajao’s acting had a place in the cinema and questioned whether what she does could be regarded as acting. He further stated that, in his opinion, the actress had a fine face but lacked the talent required to develop her acting into a professional skill.

When the interviewer questioned whether the comments were too harsh, Fagbure maintained that he was simply expressing his personal opinion, stressing that his view was not absolute and should not be regarded as the final judgment on Ajao’s career.

Reacting to the criticism, Ajao took to X to acknowledge the comments while making it clear that she had no intention of abandoning her acting career because of negative opinions.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the actress questioned whether her physical appearance was truly the only factor responsible for her success after years in the Nigerian film industry.

Ajao said she would continue to focus on her work, personal growth and allow audiences to form their own opinions about her performances. She maintained that while people are entitled to their opinions, careers are ultimately built through continued effort and dedication.

The actress also declared that she would continue acting regardless of whether her films were shown in cinemas or not, signalling her determination to remain active in the industry despite the criticism.

Her response has since added another dimension to the debate over the standards expected of actors and the role of critics in evaluating performances within Nollywood.
