The violent clashes, which erupted over the control of Local Government Secretariats, resulted in multiple casualties, including a former council chairman, while many others sustained injuries.

In a statement from his office, Matawalle urged security agencies to take immediate and proactive measures to restore peace and uphold law and order in the state.

He emphasized that the recent court ruling on the matter underscores the independence of the judiciary and aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to justice, fairness, and the rule of law.

Condemning the loss of lives, the minister called for urgent action to prevent further bloodshed, stressing that his role includes safeguarding the lives and properties of all citizens.

Matawalle urged all stakeholders—political leaders, community members, and civil society organizations—to adhere to legal processes and embrace peaceful dialogue to resolve the dispute.

He highlighted the importance of unity in fostering a stable and progressive Osun State, appealing to residents to remain calm and refrain from actions that could escalate tensions.
