The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has once again emphasized the urgent need for the establishment of ranches as a strategic measure to curb the persistent farmer-herder conflicts across Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking at a public forum on Wednesday, July 23, General Musa stated:
“To effectively tackle insecurity, two key actions must be taken. First, we must regulate the movement of livestock across regions.
A critical step toward this is the creation of ranches, which would significantly improve our control and help prevent clashes between farmers and herders.
Second, we must stop the practice of killing animals that stray into farmlands. Instead, such animals should be seized, and proper compensation processes put in place. If we can implement these two measures, we will be able to resolve over 65% of the challenges facing farmers today.”
