Governor Peter Mbah delivered this warning on Tuesday during the introduction of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Vaccination into the Routine Immunization Schedule in Enugu State.
The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Chief Ifeanyi Ossai, stated, “The state government will not passively tolerate those lacking medical expertise and knowledge in healthcare matters attempting to undermine our efforts through social media and other means.”
This unveiling event marked the commencement of a week-long, state-wide, and free-of-charge HPV vaccine vaccination campaign, intended to prevent cervical cancer in girls aged nine to 14. The campaign is scheduled to run from October 24 to October 29.
Governor Mbah emphasized, “We are closely monitoring individuals and groups who habitually dissuade our residents from taking preventative healthcare vaccinations aimed at enhancing their current and future health.”
“As a government, we will not permit those who lack understanding of healthcare matters to undermine our significant investments and dedication to the healthcare and well-being of our residents.”
He added, “We are prepared to take resolute legal actions against such individuals and groups going forward. We are actively monitoring those who are obstructing our efforts.”
