In December, Guardiola expressed doubts about Phillips’ fitness, suggesting he was overweight and not meeting training requirements.

Phillips had previously voiced his discontent with Guardiola’s comments during an interview with the BBC. In a recent statement quoted by football expert Fabrizio Romano, Phillips reiterated his dissatisfaction, particularly noting the impact on his family.

“When Pep came out and said I was overweight, he was right to do so, but there are different ways to go about it,” Phillips said.
