In defense, team captain William Troost-Ekong will lead the backline, accompanied by Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Ola Aina. Stanley Nwabali has been chosen as the starting goalkeeper for the Nigerian squad.

Super Eagles’ Starting XI:

  • Goalkeeper: Stanley Nwabali
  • Defenders: Ola Aina, William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel
  • Midfielders: Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon
  • Forwards: Ademola Lookman, Victor Osimhen

The match marks Eric Chelle’s debut as head coach of the Nigerian national team following his appointment earlier this year. The Franco-Malian tactician will be looking to start his tenure on a positive note, aiming to secure a victory that would strengthen his position and boost team morale.

The encounter holds significant importance for both teams. Rwanda currently leads Group C with seven points from four matches and will be eager to extend their advantage, especially with the support of their home crowd at the 45,508-capacity Stade Amahoro. A victory for Rwanda would solidify their standing at the top, while a defeat could compromise their position in the group.

Meanwhile, Nigeria is in dire need of a win to enhance their qualification prospects and maintain hopes of securing a place in the FIFA World Cup.
