Benin City was alive with excitement on Friday as the much-anticipated birthday celebration of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu took center stage. The beloved Edo son and prominent figure, alongside his equally distinguished wife, Professor Idia Ize-Iyamu, marked their special day with a heartfelt thanksgiving service at their residence.
Professor Idia, who also turned a year older, captivated the audience with touching stories from their early years together. She shared how their journey began decades ago and how an accident that nearly claimed Ize-Iyamu’s life led him to Christ. “I would have been a widow because of what we went through and what led him to Christ, the accident that almost took his life. But to God be the glory, we are here in 2024 celebrating yet another birthday—it can only be God.”
The emotional retelling had Ize-Iyamu blushing, revealing the softer side of his personality. The fact that both were born on the same day, June 21st, added a layer of destiny to the celebration, making it even more special.
The event was a star-studded affair, with notable figures such as Senator Monday Okpebholo, former Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, Edo State APC Chairman Jarret Tenebe, and House of Representatives member Dennis Idahosa among the guests. Friends, family, and well-wishers all gathered to celebrate the dynamic duo.
