He accused some politicians of financing terrorism in the country and revealed that many individuals were summoned for questioning during his tenure.

“Some Christians are being targeted in this country, and some politicians are funding terrorism. There are numerous individuals being called in for questioning, and during my time as Chief of Defence Staff, some trials were conducted for the financiers,” Irabor stated.

In a related development, Daniel Bwala, special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on policy communication, said the Federal Government would soon disclose the identities of terrorism financiers in Nigeria.

Speaking on Television Continental (TVC) on Sunday, Bwala explained that the government is taking decisive measures to address the root causes of insecurity.

He added that terrorism is a global issue, and international cooperation is essential:

“Since the wake of 9/11, terrorism has been a global concern. Wherever terrorism emerges, it becomes a matter for the world. That is why it is in the international community’s interest to support Nigeria in combating it.

“Terrorist activities have spread from the Middle East towards the Sahel, creating new hubs. Governments worldwide must now explore ways to cooperate with Nigeria.

“At home, the government is implementing far-reaching decisions, and in the coming days, the identities of terrorists and their financiers will be revealed.”
