Comprising ex-lawmakers from various political parties who have served in the state’s assembly since 1999, the forum has united to rally behind the APC candidate.
Their decision to endorse Ododo, they conveyed, stems from a meticulous evaluation of all the candidates vying for the position and their commitment to preventing Kogi State from regressing into the era of ethnocentric politics and violence. They made this announcement during a press conference held in Lokoja.
Alhassan Salisu Adakeke, the chairman of the forum, along with other members in attendance, addressed the media and emphasized the pivotal role Kogi State plays within Nigeria.
They expressed concerns about certain candidates who, in their view, aim to divide the state and undermine the substantial achievements of the current administration.
The former assembly members urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to enforce relevant sections of the Electoral Law against candidates who promote ethnic divisions and divisive politics.
The forum further highlighted that Kogi State has maintained a commendable level of peace since the inception of Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration and emphasized the importance of preserving this peace, while dismissing any involvement in violence.
They officially declared unanimous support for the APC’s gubernatorial candidate, Ahmed Usman Ododo, pledging to work diligently throughout the state to secure his resounding victory on November 11, 2023.
They expressed confidence that their efforts will lead to a victorious outcome and secure a brighter future for their beloved state.
