Eradiri described the political landscape as deeply transactional, where many Nigerians and even party members are more interested in personal gain than in real change. He explained, “They showed me pepper, both from the people and the party. You hear about Nigerians suffering, but once you bring money, their suffering is quickly forgotten. I was misled into thinking Bayelsans and Nigerians were truly ready for change.”

Despite his commitment to bringing change, Eradiri revealed the harsh reality of the political environment: “I did everything I could, told them clearly I didn’t have money, but I had the capacity to make a difference. But the party is transactional. People just group together to see what they can get, whether from the ruling party or those with deep pockets.”

He also pointed to the electoral process, accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of contributing to the manipulation and systemic flaws that disadvantaged candidates like him. “The Lagos system and the judiciary of INEC have killed the moral system. This is what affects candidates who don’t have the money to throw around. The codes that INEC gives to your party are often sold to the opposition, who then use them to upload agents on your behalf. By the time you try to correct it, it’s too late,” he alleged.

Reflecting on the personal impact of these challenges, Eradiri admitted the toll the experience had taken on him. “I’m focused on my work now, trying to rebuild and reorganize myself after the chaos of trying to fund the campaign. These issues are not unique to the Labour Party. They exist in every party, but you learn to manage them if you understand the structure. Ultimately, it’s about navigating through the system.
