Kazeem Mohammed, a media aide to Adeleke, confirmed the development to The PUNCH, stating that his principal had received the invitation and would comply shortly. Mohammed also clarified that Adeleke encountered ICPC officials delivering the summons as he was leaving a radio station in Osogbo, the state capital, in the evening. He emphasized that Adeleke was not arrested, contrary to rumors circulating on social media.
Earlier, the Osun State Government submitted a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), calling for an investigation into the renovation of Primary Healthcare Centres carried out by the administration of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. The petition named several key members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, including Adeleke, whose companies were awarded contracts for the renovation projects.
In response to these allegations, Adeleke stated that he had resigned from the company involved and claimed that Governor Ademola Adeleke was targeting him for exposing misconduct within the administration.
Commenting further on the ICPC invitation, Mohammed stated, “He has been invited. Some ICPC officials delivered the letter when he was about to leave the radio station in Osogbo this evening. He received it and promised to honor it at a later date. The officials were very civil, and he was not arrested. Prince Adeleke even discussed the invitation during a radio programme today (Monday), so there is no cause for alarm.”
