A year after stepping down from his role as Minister of Power, Abubakar D. Aliyu has issued a statement urging Nigerians to disregard any public statements falsely attributed to him in recent months. Aliyu, who left office on May 29, 2023, emphasized that he has not participated in any media interviews since his departure over a year ago.
The statement, released by his media office on Tuesday, clarified that interviews circulating online with his name and image are not authentic and did not originate from him. He called for an investigation into the publications and urged the public to ignore them. Aliyu highlighted an instance where an interview conducted by another former minister of power, who shares the same surname, was incorrectly attributed to him.
He urged media organizations and blogs to verify information thoroughly before publishing, emphasizing the importance of accuracy and factual reporting. Aliyu stressed the need for journalists and bloggers to exercise careful attention to details such as names and photos to ensure the integrity of their reporting and avoid confusion.
