Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a further reduction in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, by ₦65 per litre, sparking widespread reactions across Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This price cut, part of a strategic collaboration with MRS Oil and Gas, aims to provide Nigerians with more affordable fuel options, challenging the dominance of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) in the fuel distribution sector.

In a viral video, a man conducted an informal test using two small generators, locally known as “I better pass my neighbour,” to compare the performance of petrol from MRS (Dangote-refined) and NNPC stations. The results showed that while the NNPCL-sourced fuel lasted for just 17 minutes, the Dangote fuel ran for 33 minutes.

The video quickly gained traction on social media, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences, questioning fuel efficiency from various suppliers and applauding Dangote’s market entry for disrupting NNPC’s monopoly.

However, NNPCL has dismissed these claims, stating that some of its Lagos stations also source fuel from Dangote Refinery.
