In an interview with Channels TV, Imisi reflected on the distance that has existed between her and her mother over the years. She described their bond during her childhood as weak but stressed that she now holds no resentment.
The reality TV star acknowledged the difficulties her mother faced raising a child and expressed belief in the power of forgiveness. She also noted that despite the complexities of their relationship, both she and her mother are doing well in life. Imisi added that she hopes her mother continues to seek guidance and support in her personal journey.
“She is my mom, and I’m a woman—I understand the pain it takes to bring a child into this world. If God wills it… yes, I can forgive her. I’ve forgiven people who aren’t even related to me, so of course I can forgive her.
Growing up, we didn’t really have a strong relationship. But I have nothing against her. She’s doing well, and I’m doing well. Honestly, maybe she should just be a better person, but she should keep praying that the Lord is with her,” she said.
Their strained relationship came into public view months after Imisi’s Big Brother Naija victory, when videos surfaced of her mother accusing her of neglect. Imisi clarified that their issues existed long before her fame and that she has continued to be supportive despite past difficulties.
