We’re having this conversation because some individuals who never wished His Excellency Atiku Abubakar well decided to leak a private communication,” said Paul Ibe. “Yes, it was leaked,” he confirmed.

He alleged that the leak was the handiwork of “rogue elements within the PDP working hand-in-hand with APC members,” suggesting it was a calculated attempt to sow discord and distract from the period of national mourning.

Atiku’s resignation letter, dated July 14, 2025, was addressed to his local ward chairman in Adamawa State. Although intended to remain private initially, it was later made public via social media by his aide. In the letter, Atiku cited “irreconcilable differences” and expressed disappointment over the PDP’s deviation from its founding principles.

Ibe also took aim at Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, for inserting himself into the controversy, accusing him of abandoning pressing aviation concerns.

“It’s disappointing that the Aviation Minister—who should be focused on crucial issues like upgrading runways and improving infrastructure—is meddling in political matters, acting like he already knows the cause of a plane crash before an investigation even begins,” Ibe said.

Keyamo had earlier criticized Atiku’s resignation on social media, calling it politically opportunistic and poorly timed.

Ibe concluded by urging a focus on mourning the late President Buhari, emphasizing that this period should not be clouded by political distractions. “Those claiming to know the reasons behind Atiku’s resignation—are they clairvoyants?” he asked. “Let’s respect the national mood. The late President Muhammadu Buhari was just laid to rest, and his memory is still fresh in our minds.”
