Despite initial discouragement, Kadiri persisted, driven by a desire to learn and innovate. She highlighted how watching musical videos during a period of boredom while abroad sparked her interest in YouTube as a distribution channel for her films.

“When I traveled to give birth, I was bored and started watching a lot of musical videos and noticed that some people put their films on YouTube,” Kadiri recalled. “I told myself that I’ll come back to try it.”

Addressing concerns about profitability and competition on YouTube, Kadiri expressed confidence in the platform’s potential for filmmakers to thrive economically. She emphasized its role in sustaining livelihoods within the industry.

“Personally, I don’t worry about competition and I feel like as filmmakers, we are at the forefront and we hustle,” she asserted. “YouTube is an opportunity for a lot of filmmakers to make money and that’s what is happening now. Because YouTube is what is feeding people now.”

Currently boasting two million subscribers on YouTube, Kadiri continues to leverage the platform to connect directly with her audience and expand her creative horizons.
