Notably, Abubakar Aliyu played a pivotal role as the first prosecution witness in the money laundering charges against Adoke, Ex- AGF. Adoke faced accusations of accepting a $500 million bribe from ENI and Shell in Italy. The charges detailed an alleged cash payment of N300 million in August 2013 in Abuja, violating the Money Laundering Prohibition Act. Abubakar, wanted in Italy, was implicated as a conduit for the bribe. Despite his denial of any wrongdoing, an Italian court, in March 2021, cleared Eni and Shell of corruption allegations related to a $1.3 billion oil block purchase, asserting that there was no case to answer.”

It was also reported years back the house eyed by most Nigerians was sealed by the anti-graft agency.
