Olawepo-Hashim made the remarks during an appearance on Sunday Politics on Channels Television, where he spoke about the resilience and history of the PDP.

He recounted events surrounding the death of former military ruler Sani Abacha, noting that many PDP figures were imprisoned at the time. Meanwhile, Olawepo-Hashim recently indicated that efforts are underway to reconcile the two factions within the PDP. His comments followed a Court of Appeal ruling in Abuja that dismissed the faction led by Taminu Turaki and upheld an earlier Federal High Court decision restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission from recognising the outcome of the party’s 2025 national convention in Ibadan.
