Cole, in a recent interview, had criticized Wike over his relationship with the ruling APC while still identifying as a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He accused Wike of creating confusion about his political loyalty, asking:

Responding during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Wike dismissed Cole’s remarks, insisting that the businessman-turned-politician was nowhere near his political level.

According to the FCT Minister, Cole lacks the character and standing to engage him in any political discussion, either in Rivers State or at the national level.

**“I saw a clip where Pastor Tonye Cole said I’m confusing. He should continue to be confused.

At my level of politics, we are not on the same level. Tonye Cole cannot talk about the politics of Rivers and Nigeria and say he will sit with me. He has no character,”** Wike declared.
