Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has released documents he claims show that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, received ₦50 billion from the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Fayose said the funds were approved as emergency intervention following the deadly Ibadan explosion in January 2024.

Governor Makinde had previously denied the allegation and challenged Fayose to present evidence to support his claims.

Reacting to the challenge, Fayose made the documents public, alleging that only ₦4.5 billion of the amount was paid to victims of the explosion, while the balance was allegedly diverted to fund Makinde’s reported presidential ambition.

In a statement personally signed by him, Fayose said he released the documents to allow Nigerians judge for themselves whether the Oyo State Government had been transparent.

He also challenged Makinde to seek legal redress if he believed the claims were false, insisting that records exist showing that other financial interventions sent to Oyo State by the Tinubu administration were never disclosed to the public.

Fayose further claimed to be in possession of documents detailing Oyo State’s actual Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), which he said differs from figures publicly announced by the governor.

According to Fayose, he remains confident in his allegations and would not make such claims without proof, adding that more documents could be released if the need arises.

“Meanwhile, only ₦4.5 billion was released to victims of the Ibadan explosion. The rest, along with other funds, was allegedly diverted to support his presidential ambition, which is at the root of the crisis in the PDP and his attacks on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration,” Fayose said.

He added, “There are also documentary evidences on the actual Internally Generated Revenue of Oyo State, contrary to Governor Makinde’s claims, but we will keep our powder dry for now. My name is still Ayo Fayose — I do not make claims I cannot prove.
